SFS Projects and Best Practices

The Holiday Neighborhood > Water Quality

Redevelopment of the Holiday Neighborhood also stressed the need to handle water in the most sustainable possible manner.

Water-Management goals included the following:

  • To understand the technical aspects of alternative stormwater systems and coordinate those systems with our site design.

  • To the extent possible, capture water on the site to recharge the water table.

  • To have a positive impact on the quality of water as it leaves our site.

  • To understand and accommodate the regulatory influences on alternative systems — to work with the City of Boulder to address their concerns over "something new."

  • To work with the City of Boulder to address their short and long term maintenance concerns.

  • To understand the financial impacts to the project to implement systems above and beyond the letter of the code.
