About SFS

History

The Colorado Sustainability Project (CSP) was born out of the Corporate Alliance for Better Air. One of its members returned from the 1992 Rio Earth Summit determined to help create a sustainability movement in Colorado. In 1994, CSP was created by a coalition of business, government, non-profit, environmental, academic, educational and citizen groups dedicated to developing a sustainable Colorado.

CSP´s focus grew out of the results of early indicator research, a feasibility study, a statewide public opinion poll and feedback from over 200 Colorado sustainability practitioners at a convening meeting held in 1996.

In 1997, CSP became a non-profit corporation. Today, CSP´s all-volunteer board and supporters work to advocate sound public policy decisions, promote visible demonstrations of sustainable communities, and support sustainability projects and practices by business, government and the public at large.

In 2002, the Colorado Sustainability Project merged with, and became a part of, the Sustainable Futures Society (SFS).
